Kaliningrad-region scientists setting up hi-tech agriculture center

The Kaliningrad region, which is a Russian enclave on the Baltic coast, might well become a national center for introducing hi-tech agriculture technologies and production processes.

Local scientists are completing the creation of a hi-tech center, reports the regional administration. This center would enable the Kaliningrad region to become a unique Russian and even international testing site for adapting state-of-the-art agriculture technologies and production processes to Russian conditions.

Many countries of the world already boast high agriculture technologies and production processes, which should now be introduced on Russian territory, as well. The Kaliningrad region is the most convenient option for doing this, scientists believe.

In their opinion, this can be facilitated by a new international science-and-engineering center for testing agriculture technologies and production processes. Every country wishing to take part in this program will receive land plots for conducting research and for taking crop-and-soil samples.

According to scientists, the Kaliningrad region's unique position makes it quite attractive.

Scientists also hope that a college will be opened at this center to train students, farmers and economic managers alike.
