Let’s Give Away the Kurile Islands to Japan!

A Russian public organization wants the Kurile islands to be returned to Japan

Surprising things are happening in the Far East of Russia. The political life of the region is full of surprises. Here is an example. There is an organization in the Khabarovsk region of Russia called Renaissance: The 21st Century . There is nothing special about this organization really, except for the eccentricity of its programs. One of the aims of the organization might turn into serious trouble for Russia. Representatives of the above-mentioned organization want to give away the Kurile islands to Japan.

A conference entitled “Non-governmental dialogue about territorial disputes in the Asian-Pacific Region” is to take place between November 25-27th in the city of Vladivostok. According to the information from the newspaper Daily News of Vladivostok , representatives of the organization are going to make an official statement regarding their position on handing over the Kurile islands to Japan. Maybe will not happen, but this is noting to laugh about it, since Renaissance The 21st century is a legally registered organization.

Furthermore, this organization intends to hold a demonstration in front of the building of the Russian Foreign Ministry department in the city of Khabarovsk. The picketers will demand the return of the Kurile islands to Japan.

Well, what can be said about it? Everyone tries to be original as they can. One can demand anything from anyone. Yet, it does not mean that this kind of demand is worthy of paying attention to. The things that Renaissance: The 21st Century do have only one goal: to attract attention to this organization and make people talk and write about it. Well, they got what they wanted.

In addition, the Japanese will definitely pay attention to the demonstration in front of the Russian Foreign Ministry. This would be a very good reason to launch another stage of propaganda around the issue of the so-called northern territories. The Japanese know the art of wishful thinking very well when it comes to these islands. It seems that we will soon hear their story about a mass movement in Russia for the return of these islands to Japan. It seems that some Russian people are doing so well that they think it is about time to worry about what the Japanese want.
