Extended Life Of Gold

South Africa's AngloGold extended the life of its Navachab gold mine in Namibia by eight years, from 2005 to 2013, after getting the go-ahead for expansion plans. The approval was given for this project to go ahead.

It is expected that the mine will maintain its current mill throughput of around 1,3-million tons a year and its annual production of some 80 000 oz.

The project became viable due to the recent sustained improvement in the gold price. For this project the company extended its mining licence last month.
