Duma official says Russia should act as peacemaker between US and Iraq

Russia should act as a peacemaker in the relations between Iraq and the US,leader of the Yedinstvo faction Vladimir Pekhtin said in an interview withjournalists in the Russian State Duma. He was quoted as saying one shouldnot "instigate war in the world only to meet the interests of one country.We stand for peace in the entire world". The Yedinstvo faction leaderexpressed hope that reason would claim eventual victory and "the US willnot attack Iraq on September 11". .
