TACIS starts new project in Russia

The first international conference 'Russia-EU on the Way to Establishing aCommon European Economic Space: Competition, Government Assistance andNatural Monopolies' will take place in the city of Valdai on September 5-7in view of the beginning of implementing a TACIS project (with the RussianAnti-Monopoly Ministry as its beneficiary), the Ministry's press servicereported to RosBusinessConsulting. The TACIS project provides for a widevariety of measures aimed at further harmonization of Russian and EUcompetition regulations, building an efficient control system in the sphereof government assistance and ensuring adherence to principles ofcompetition in activities of natural monopolies. Russian Anti-Monopoly Minister Ilya Yuzhanov, representatives of theMinistry's central boards and regional divisions, officials from theEconomic Development and Trade Ministry and the Railroad Ministry as wellas anti-monopoly officials from Bulgaria, Slovakia, representatives of theEuropean Union, the European Committee and French and Italian anti-monopolydepartments will participate in the conference..
