Expert thinks government should coordinate industrial policy with business community

The formation of Russia's industrial policy should be a mutual task for thebusiness community and the authorities, Igor Yurgens, vice president andexecutive secretary of the Russian Union of Industrialists andEntrepreneurs, declared in Nizhny Novgorod today, addressing theparticipants of the scientific and industrial forum Unified Russia. According to Yurgens, within the framework of the forum there is a uniquechance to outline the positions and to compare the viewpoints of executivesof industrial companies, scientists, and federal and regional officials onpriorities of the development of the Russian economy. The Department of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneursreported that Industry, Science and Technologies Minister Ilya Klebanov,Antimonopoly Minister Ilya Yuzhanov, the Russian President's authorizedrepresentative in the Volga Federal District Sergei Kiriyenko, and NizhnyNovgorod Deputy Regional Governor Yury Sentyurin had already declared theprincipal interest of federal and regional authorities in getting supportfor the process of working out the industrial policy at the opening of theforum. The annual forum United Russia is being conducted in Nizhny Novgorod forthe seventh time. This year it is attended by 1,500 representatives of 48regions of Russia and 29 foreign countries. The main aim of the forum is todiscuss the priorities and aspects of the industrial policy, the conditionsfor the formation of the Russian market of competitive hi-tech products andways to support innovations. .
