World Bank's credits make up 29% of Ukraine's foreign debt

Credits of the World Bank account for the largest share in the overallstructure of Ukraine's direct foreign debt, the press service of theUkrainian Finance Ministry reported. On June 30, 2002 Ukraine's debt to theWorld Bank was over $2.3bn, or 29.18 percent of the total foreign debt ofthe country. The second largest share of Ukraine's debt is the country'sliabilities to the holders of Eurobonds that were issued by Ukraine in 2002- $2.2bn, or 27.91 percent of the country's total foreign debt. Russiaaccounts for the third largest share of the republic's foreign debt($1.78bn or 22.52 percent), which is followed by Germany ($408m or 5.17percent), the European Union ($320m or 4.05 percent), the USA ($290m or3.67 percent) and Turkmenistan ($282m or 3.57 percent). The rest of thecreditors account for $310m, or 3.93 percent of Ukraine's direct foreigndebt, the Ukrainian Financial Server reported. In June 2002 the country's foreign debt grew by around $80m and totalednearly $7.9bn on June 31, 2002. In total, in January-June 2002 thecountry's foreign debt dropped by over $35m..
