Vladimir Putin: Cooperation between Russia and Germany is not subject to time-serving considerations

Cooperation between Russia and Germany is "not subject to time-serving considerations and enjoys the consensus support" of the business and political elites in both countries, declared Vladimir Putin at a press-conference after negotiations with the German President.

President Putin confirmed that today, "all major problem issues which we had inherited from the past, have been finally closed."

According to Vladimir Putin, the close cooperation between Russia and Germany is becoming an "ever weightier factor in international matters."

Russia and Germany have achieved "considerable growth" in their relations, above all, in such a pivotal direction of cooperation" as economic ties.

President Putin believes that "a good reserve exists today for qualitative progress," which, he said, is confirmed by the meeting between the two presidents and young Russian managers who were trained in Germany.

The head of the Russian State also noted the importance of cooperation with Germany in international affairs, which are of an uninterrupted nature. In that context he specially singled out the struggle against terrorism, consolidation of the foundations of law and order, and respect for the interests of all members of the international community.

The President of Russia noted with satisfaction the "closeness or coincidence of the countries' stands" on most international issues, and, in particular, cooperation between Russia and the EU, Russia and NATO, and the strengthening of the UN.

President Putin expressed the confidence that the German President's current visit to Russia will promote further progress "on the road of building mutual relations of a new type" and "will make a positive contribution to the construction of a new Europe without dividing lines.
