Typhoon disrupts railway traffic in Sakhalin region

The tropical typhoon Rusa has disrupted railway traffic in the Sakhalin region, Russia's Far East.

According to the Russian interior ministry, railway traffic had to be stalled after the calamity had destroyed nine bridges. At this moment, emergency teams are busy restoring them.

The typhoon came to Russia's Far East from the Korean Peninsula. On Saturday, it had swept above South Korea, where the wind force had reached 137 kilometres per hour. According to weather forecasters, two more typhoons were born above the Pacific Ocean. These two, named Ele and Sinlaku, are now moving northwards along the Pacific coast of Asia.

In the meantime, Rusa has left Sakhalin and is moving towards Kamchatka, bringing showers and strong breeze.
