Georgian president felt sorry for Russian pilots

The scandal about the bombing of Georgia’s territory by Russian planes is gathering steam. The major site of Chechen gunmen Kavkaz Center informed that several Russian bomber jets dropped bombs on the Pankisi Gorge on Friday at about 5:35 a.m., Tbilisi time.

The bombs were dropped not on the settlements, but on the woods and uninhabited deserted villages. A source from Kavkaz Center advised that the bombs were dropped on the north-eastern area of the gorge.

Russia absolutely rejected the fact of bombing. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov was more precise: “This is not the first statement of this kind that the Georgian authorities release. It goes without saying that Russia does not have anything to do with it.”

There were so many times indeed, when Georgia accused Russia of trespassing its airspace. However, Georgia failed to present any evidence of that.

The considerable difference between the previous and today’s allegations is as follows: the Georgian government was trying to tease Russia before, whereas now it is showing Russia its claws.

The today’s statement from Georgian President Shevardnadze is another example of that. Here is a short excerpt from his speech. “Up-to-date means allow the Georgian military men to down helicopters and planes, which trespass upon the Georgian airspace from Russia and bomb the border territories. However, Georgia is not intended to do that, since we do not want to extremely worsen the relations between Russia and Georgia.”

Esteemed president felt sorry for Russian pilots, thank you very much for that, Mr. President. He should have apologized for those border guards that were killed on the Russian-Georgian border in the battle with Chechen gunmen. It is an open secret that there are loads of terrorists in the Pankisi Gorge.
