Russian oil supplies to Ukrainian refineries surge

In the first seven months of 2002, the volume of supplies of Russian oil toUkrainian refineries grew by 144 percent as compared to the correspondingperiod of 2001, and reached 9.351 million tons. According to the data ofthe Ukrainian Fuel Ministry, in total, Ukrainian refineries received 12.545million tons of oil in the reporting period, which was 71 percent more thanthe same figure of 2001. At the same time, the supplies of Kazakh oildeclined by 16.8 percent and amounted to 1.764 million tons. The suppliesof Ukrainian oil decreased by 1.3 percent to 1.428 million tons. In July2002, Russian oil supplies reached 938,500 tons, which was 40 percent morethan in the corresponding period of 2001, while Kazakhstan reduces itssupplies by 83,900 tons to 60 percent of the volume of 2001..
