The World Bank to take part in Russian commercial projects

Prospects for the World Bank to participate in a number of projects, aimed at boosting the development of Russian agriculture, were discussed by Russian Vice Premier Alexei Gordeyev and head of the World Bank's Russian office Julian Schweizer, in Moscow's House of Government on Wednesday.

In particular, the matter concerned the World Bank's participation in a number of projects on providing conditions for corn export in ports of the Azov Sea and the River Don, Alexei Goredeyev informed journalists, following the negotiations. Besides, the officials also discussed the issue of constructing elevators in the southern Russia, the vice premier said.

The negotiators touched upon joint projects, concerning land relations and the issue of implementing the law on agricultural lands turnover in Russian regions, Gordeyev said. Gordeyev and Schweizer also considered issues of financial recovery of Russian agriculture and development of rural areas.

According to Gordeyev, at the negotiations the sides reached an agreement to set up a joint working group of representatives of the government, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Bank.
