Military-sports air show "Open Sky" to be held in Ivanovo

Military airdrome Severny in Ivanovo (Central federal district) will see a military-sports air show Open Sky. The festivity is timed to three dates: the 90th anniversary of Russia's Air Forces, the Day of the Airborne Troops (VDV) and the 35th anniversary of the Ivanovo training center of military-transport aviation (VTA).

The program of the air show includes demonstrative shows by paratroopers and sports aviation.

Commander of the Ivanovo training center VTA, Major General Alexander Akhlyustin told RIA Novosti that due to the recent tragedy in Lvov (Ukraine) at an air show, the number of demonstration flights has been reduced to a minimum. Heavy aircraft Il-76, from where it was supposed to land troops, will not take off. Paratroopers will have to land from three An-2 planes. The ground part of the show has not been changed, however.

The Open Sky is to end by a performance directly on the airfield of well-known rock bands. The Ivanovo region Interior Affairs Department press service told RIA Novosti that law enforcement bodies expect the show to gather an audience of up to 40,000 persons.
