Harriet Spuds Simpson-4 Development

The Harriet Joint Venture drilling program has commenced with the spudding of the Simpson-4 development well on 31 July 2002. The well is located in TL/1, south of Varanus Island.

Simpson-4 is a sidetrack from the existing Simpson-3H production well. Simpson-4 is the first of an initial 5 well program. This well will be a sidetrack from the Simpson-3H production well and is expected to take 14 days to reach its projected total depth of 2,257 meters measured depth. The new sidetrack well is planned to replace the existing Simpson-3H development well, which was placed too low in the structure and is accessing water in preference to the oil in place.

Simpson-4 will be the first of three deviated wells to be drilled from the Simpson Platform. South Simpson-1 will next be drilled targeting a separate closure to the south of the Simpson Oil Field. South Tanami-1 will target a separate closure to the south of the Tanami Oil Field. If successful, all three wells will be immediately completed and brought into production.

A fourth exploration well, Tirari-1, will then be drilled to target a separate Flag Sandstone closure to the south of the South Tanami closure. The well will be drilled as a vertical well, and if successful, will be later re-drilled as a deviated development well from the Simpson B platform.

The rig will then be moved to the Sinbad Platform to drill Endymion-1. This prospect is adjacent to the Sinbad gas field and if successful will be immediately completed as a gas producer.
