Barge missing after storm is searched for at eastern coast of Chukot Peninsula

The civil agencies' aviation of the Chukot Peninsula (the Russian Far East), the emergencies ministry and the Russian Federal Frontier Service resumed flights over the sea and coastal land on Wednesday searching for the barge of "Vostok- 039" model which was lost during a storm on November 3rd.

RIA Novosti was told in the Far Eastern regional centre of civil defence, emergencies and clean-up operations that the coast was being inspected by groups of rescuers in deer and dog gears.

The emergencies ministry's press service reported on Tuesday that the crew a rescue plane discovered an unidentified barge on the north-eastern coast. The rescuers were immediately sent to that place to establish that it was a small-size ship which sank three years ago.

The rescue and search groups are preparing to move to another sea and coastal areas on Thursday.

The regional emergencies ministry's centre reported that the US Coast Guard service had been informed about the missing barge and was also involved in the search.
