Aeroflot to get Airbuses

Aeroflot, Russia's major airline, has signed a contract for the purchase of eight Airbuses.

The agreement was signed in Toulouse on Monday in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.

The Russian airline will receive the first narrow-bodied Airbus A-319 in the autumn of 2003. It will be followed by an A-320.

Aeroflot has decided to purchase 18 Airbuses of A-319 and A-320 series. The airline buys eight planes according to the terms of the contract signed on Monday. Ten other planes will be leased (four of them ordered especially for Aeroflot).

The planes will be used on Aeroflot's European routes.
