Russia and USA sign amendments to steel agreement

Russia and the USA have signed amendments to the steel agreement between the two countries. These documents will enable steel producers to use a quota on slabs in full volume, which was introduced in the USA in March 2002. As a result of the agreement, Russian steel producers are able to export up to 1.2m tons of steel slabs to the USA annually, the US Department of Commerce said in its press release.

Faryar Shirzad, the US assistant secretary of commerce, noted he expected that joint work would be continued at the next meeting, at the level of the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development in December 2002.
