RAO UES chief comments on RAO UES reorganization

It is necessary to envisage additional 15bn rubles (about $474m) in the2003 federal budget to obtain a 100 percent government control overhydroelectric power stations, RAO UES Chief Executive Officer AnatolyChubais declared at today's meeting of the Fatherland-All Russia faction inthe State Duma. "We are not going to put hydroelectric power stations onsale, as it will not promote the creation of a really working system", hestressed. According to Chubais, three generating companies that will be incharge of the hydroelectric energy production will be formed by 2004. Onlyafter that, a partial privatization and transferring of a 52 percent stakein hydroelectric power stations to the state will be possible. .
