Kremlin satisfied with Khloponin's victory in Krasnoyarsk governor elections

The Kremlin is satisfied with Alexander Khloponin's victory in the second round of the elections of the Krasnoyarsk governor. "No serious wrongdoing was registered during the election campaign, and the elections will be declared valid," a source in the presidential administration told a RIA Novosti correspondent.

According to the source, Khloponin's victory in the elections "will be useful for the territory", because the winner is "an ambitious man who wants and will be able to bring benefit to the territory." The Kremlin's spokesman also pointed to Khloponin's ability "to arrange matters with Moscow and the local authorities." In addition, the source believes that Khloponin's words and actions are clear. On the whole, the Kremlin will have less problems with the new Krasnoyarsk governor, the source said.

New elections will be held in the Taimyr autonomous area, which was left without a governor, the source told RIA Novosti. Commenting on the idea of the unification of Taimyr and the Krasnoyarsk territory, the source said that a referendum and relevant decisions of the legislative assemblies of the two federation subjects will be needed to implement it. According to the Kremlin spokesman, "now it is senseless to boost the realisation of this idea".
