Putin: Moscow pays much attention to agreement on Caspian Sea division with Azerbaijan

Russian President Vladimir Putin said during his Monday talks with Azerbaijani President Geidar Aliyev in the Kremlin that Russia paid much attention to the signing of an agreement on the Caspian Sea division and educational cooperation with Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reports.

Vladimir Putin stressed that documents that are to be signed are "a basis for further development of relations between the countries." Vladimir Putin also emphasized that he was very pleased with intensive development of relationship between Russia and Azerbaijan. According to the Russian President, turnover between the countries had decreased last year but the beginning of this year saw an increase of turnover.

Besides, Vladimir Putin thanked Geidar Aliyev for support and development of the Russian language in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani President pointed out that his country paid much attention to signing documents, especially the agreement on the Caspian Sea.

Mr. Aliyev describes the fact that Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have a single stance towards the Caspian Sea issue as positive.

Azerbaijani President Geidar Aliyev expressed the hope that other Caspian states would share Russia's, Azerbaijan's and Kazakhstan's approach towards the issue.
