Ukrainian opposition longs to go on the air - 24 September, 2002 - News

Next stage of Ukraine Rise! action goes ahead of schedule
A group of Ukrainian deputies headed by the opposition leaders Julia Timoshenko, Alexander Moroz, and Pyotr Simonenko came to the studio of the Ukrainian national television at 8:45 p.m., right before the final news program on September 23. The deputies asked for ten minutes on live television. As a result, the final news program was not aired.

Later, people supporting the opposition besieged the studio and the deputies started negotiations with the director of the TV company for the opposition leaders to go on the air. Several deputies informed by mobile phones that the police were rather tolerant; they only insisted that the deputies should leave the studio and referred to criminal code articles.
