About fifty fishing craft of Vietnam and China asked for shelter from typhoon in Russia's economic zone

About fifty fishing vessels of Vietnam and China which are fishing in the neutral waters of the Pacific have asked for a permission to enter the exclusive economic zone of Russia and to find refuge in the bays of the South Kuriles from the nearing tropical typhoon Bavi.

As RIA Novosti was told at the Sakhalin Sea Rescue-Coordinating Centre (SKC) on Monday, a permission to enter the coastal waters of Russia was given to the captains of all foreign vessels. No signals of distress have been received so far.

In the meantime, the Bavi typhoon, having passed over the south of Japan, reached the northern island Hokkaido and the south of Sakhalin and of the Kurile Islands. In Kamchatka (the Russian Far East) they are also preparing to meet the typhoon.
