Moscow hopes to host EXPO-2010

The presentation of "EXPO-2010 Moscow Day" project was held in the Russian capital on Thursday. A model of the All-Russia Exhibition Centre (VVTs) was shown at the Manezh exhibition hall. The project demonstrates all the details of the technological development of VVTs complex in Moscow's north, known as the Exhibition of National Economic Achievements of the USSR. If Russia is chosen the EXPO-2010 venue, the world universal exhibition will be held in VVTs on May 1st-October 31st, 2010. According to forecasts, some 30 million people can visit the exhibition.

Large-scale buildings of the International Exhibition Centre will be constructed on both sides of the main entrance to VVTs. In addition to exhibition areas, it will include the Palace of Congresses (with 5,000 seats) and the Conference Centre (with 2,000 seats). The first line of the complex will be built by 2006-2008. A temporary residence for 10,000 foreign visitors will be built in the northern part of VVTs.
