380 Million Tonnes of Oil with Gas Condensate Will Be Extracted in Russia in 2002

377-380 million tonnes of oil with gas condensate will be extracted in Russia in 2002. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was confirmed on Monday, October 14, by deputy head of the Oil-processing Industry Department of the Russian Ministry of Energy Boris Vydrik.

According to Mr Vydrik, this is approximately 20 million tonnes more than in 2001 and 40 million tonnes more than in 2000. 'That volume of extraction fully meets the needs of the country with regard to economic growth,' said Mr Vydrik.

The deputy head of the department also said that since 1998 the volume of extraction of hydrocarbonic raw materials in Russia has also steadily increased. That brought an increase in the production of electric power by 13.5 billion kilowatts an hour in 2001 compared to the previous year and a production level of 891.3 billion kilowatts an hour. Mr Vydrik also said that due to the warm winter of 2001-2002 the production of electric power in 2002 will decrease by 0.72% compared to last year.
