Growth in oil production reported in Russia in January-September

The volume of oil production (including gas condensate) reached 279m tons in Russia in January-September 2002, exceeding that in the corresponding period of last year by 8.5%, the State Statistics Committee of Russia reported. In September the volume of oil production grew by 9.8% compared to that of September 2001. At the same time it decreased by 1.9% compared to that of August of this year.

The volume of natural gas production increased by 3% in January-September of this year compared to that in the corresponding period of 2001 and reached 433bn cubic m. The volume of gas production increased by 2% in September compared to that of September 2001 and by 3% compared to the level of August of this year. Liquefied gas production amounted to 5.2m tons in the first nine months of this year, which is 9.1% lower than the corresponding figure for the first nine months of 2001.
