Officials at the Russian Central Electoral Committee intend to appeal to US law enforcement authorities in connection with a cyberattack of the official website of the committee. The attack, which occurred on September 13 at 23:23 Moscow time, came from San Francisco, the head of the Central Electoral Committee Vladimir Churov said.
According to the official, the hackers attempted to replace the content of the data of the website, although they failed to succeed.
Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Party, State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Neverov, called this year's campaign "very competitive."
"It is important to say that the campaign was very competitive. Forty-nine parties took part in the campaign," the official said.
On September 13th, Russians went to the polls to elect municipal and regional MPs, mayors and governors.
