Nizhny Novgorod prepares for World Cup 2018 strictly according to schedule

 

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov checked progress in preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko and Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev accompanied the official during the inspection. 

According to the program of preparation for the 2018 World Cup, the Nizhny Novgorod region will receive about 36 billion rubles from the federal budget.

The new passenger terminal of Strigino international airport is to be put into operation in late 2015. There are plans to reconstruct one of the runways, which should be completed by 2017. A state contract is expected to be signed for the construction of the stadium on the Strelka.

"In the near future, construction works will receive advance funding of 50 percent. The construction is carried out at the expense of the federal budget, the total cost will amount to more than 17 billion rubles," said Mutko.

According to the Sports Minister, one must pay special attention to the organization of the transport system, the construction of the stadium, training sites and team bases. Special attention must also be paid to the construction of facilities at Strigino airport.

"In the Nizhny Novgorod region, preparations for the 2018 World Cup are being carried out strictly according to schedule," the first deputy chairman of the Russian government concluded as a result of the inspection.
