Nizhny Novgorod International Airport builds new terminal

In Nizhny Novgorod, the construction of a new passenger terminal of the International Airport has started. The terminal is said to be put in operation in the 4th quarter of 2015.

"The most important thing is that with the launch of the new terminal, Nizhny Novgorod residents will feel connected to the world, plus, I'm sure that we will also implement the project of the construction of a high-speed railway. There will be an  interchange station near the object. All this will give absolutely different opportunities to both the airport and the railway road. Such a transport hub, the most powerful one in Nizhny Novgorod, will be able to solve many problems. We need to have passengers flying to other countries from Nizhny Novgorod, not from Moscow," said the head of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Valery Shantsev.

"The new airport terminal will be able to service more than 800 passengers an hour and more than 1.5 million people a year," said the general director of "Airports of Regions," Yevgeny Chudnovsky.

The complex will be 27.8 thousand square meters, which is almost 3.5 times larger than the existing one. The terminal will consist of three floors above the ground. There will be comfortable waiting rooms, a registration area and a special baggage registration zone for people with limited mobility. The terminal will also have mother and child rooms, as well as sophisticated video surveillance system, automated baggage handling system, contact jetways to board aircraft and many other things.

"I want to thank, first of all, Valery Shantsev and the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region for the development of this project, because such a project can only be a joint one," the Managing Director of the group of companies Renovo, Yevgeny Olkhovik said.

The volume of investment in the construction of the first section of the passenger terminal will make up about 4 billion rubles.
