Ulyanovsk region improves housing conditions for local residents

In the Ulyanovsk region, officials discussed the resettlement of residents from dilapidated housing. A comprehensive approach to the issue, which has been practiced in the region, has attracted interest from the federal authorities.

"The integrated development program in the Ulyanovsk region is the right idea, which will soon be discussed at the Russian government together with the message from the President concerning housing facilities for Russian families. This is certainly a good idea," the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Housing Policy and Housing and Communal Services, Galina Khovanskaya told Pravda.Ru.

The housing renovation program, which is now being implemented in the Ulyanovsk region, stipulates not only the demolition of dilapidated houses and resettlement of residents. It is based on a comprehensive plan for the development of residential areas. The plan provides for the creation of residential and social construction, as well as the improvement and landscaping of surrounding areas.

It is interesting to note that the renovation of neighborhoods is largely connected with the development of large companies, which leads to the transformation of surrounding areas. This is a peculiar feature of the Ulyanovsk region.

The chairman of the Supervisory Council of "Housing Reform Fund," Sergei Stepashin, had an opportunity to personally assess the benefits of the integrated approach to the problem during his visit to the Ulyanovsk region. He visited a residential area, where apartment buildings are being built within the scope of the renovation program. A 12-storey apartment building is ready to welcome the people, who lived in dilapidated houses with much more spacious and comfortable apartments.

"This area will be a modern integrated residential complex with a well-developed social and engineering infrastructure. There will be food stores, modern multistory houses with roof boilers and medical offices. Moreover, the construction of a 240-strong kindergarten will start in 2014," said the governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov.

Sergei Stepashin was satisfied with what he saw. He praised the approach in the improvement of living conditions for local residents within the scope of the renovation program. "In this regard, the Ulyanovsk region goes along with the program of the Fund. The regional administration can be praised for this," said the Chairman of the Supervisory Council of the State "Housing Reform Fund."
