The city of Ulyanovsk will take up the Olympic torch relay from the neighboring Samara region. The symbol of the 2014 Games will arrive at the railway station of Ulyanovsk, where the relay will then start.

In Ulyanovsk, the relay will be 28 kilometers long. As many as 140 torchbearers will carry the flame with each of them running for 200 meters. One of the participants of the relay is a local marathon runner, who has been working for 30 years at Aviastar-SP aircraft manufacturing company. Noteworthy, this is the only Ulyanovsk factory, which won the right to participate in the Olympic torch relay.

It is also expected that the Olympic flame will take a ride aboard the Antonov An-124 Ruslan. The plane will take off from Ulyanovsk-Vostochny Airport, gain altitude of 600 meters and make the circle above the city.
