Americans find out all details about Russia’s next unmanned aircraft

Russia may soon have a long-range unmanned aircraft. Interestingly, the news was announced by the American edition of The Washington Free Beacon that  analyzed images from a factory in the republic of Tatarstan. The photos appeared in February, but were later removed.

American experts suggested that Russia was developing a combat UAV that would fly on medium or high altitudes. The conclusions were based on the wingspan and a V-shaped tail. Experts noted that the Russian aircraft was  similar to the American UAV MQ-Reaper.

Despite the fact that the new Russian UAV will be capable of flying at long distances, the drone, U.S. experts said, would be a lot inferior to combat abilities of the drones made in other countries, such as the U.S.

In Russia, the new UAV will most likely will go into service in 2016. Experts believe that Russia still relies on manned aircraft, so the country lags behind in terms of unmanned drones.

Noteworthy, not that long ago, Russian experts said that in 2015-2016, Russian unmanned aircraft would be one of the lightest drones in the world. According to engineers of the Tverskoy all-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Synthetic Fiber, a part of RT-Himkompozit Holding, a unique technology was developed to produce high-strength reinforcing strands of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). According to the scientists, the new strands in the composite materials will reduce the weight of the airframe of unmanned aerial vehicles two or two and a half times.
