Forum of regions of Russia and Poland takes place in Nizhny Novgorod

The fifth forum of regions of Russia and Poland is taking place in Nizhny Novgorod. High-ranking guests attended the forum. Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev gave a tour of most picturesque places of the capital of the Volga region to the chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, and Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Bogdan Borusewicz.

"We are very pleased that Valentina Matvienko and Mr. Borusewicz decided to hold the forum with us, and we could not help but show our Kremlin to the,, our Strelka, because all this inspires to doing good job together," said Valery Shantsev during the tour.

Together with Governor Shantsev, guests of honor visited the building of contemporary art center "Arsenal", where they took part in the opening of the Polish Film Festival "Vistula". The guests also visited the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, the Cathedral of Michael the Archangel and the monument to the founder of Nizhny Novgorod, Prince George Vsevolodovich.

Special attention was paid to objects of cultural heritage that has been restored recently: war memorial "Gorky Residents to the Front" and Zachatskaya tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. Newly assembled exhibits appeared on the war memorial only a month ago, such as multiple launch rocket system "BM-13 Katyusha" and "GAZ-67B" vehicle.

"Last year we reconstructed the Zachatskaya tower, completely restored the Kremlin wall, and now we have the original appearance of the Kremlin," Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev told the guests.

Bogdan Borusewicz, who visited the Nizhny Novgorod for the first time, praised the experience of the region in the field of preservation of cultural heritage. "Going to Nizhny Novgorod, I knew that I was going to a beautiful place. The beautiful Kremlin, many wonderful buildings - I see that there is a lot of work being done to preserve these monuments of architecture," Bogdan Borusewicz said.

As Valentina Matvienko and Bogdan Borusewicz noted, the tour not only allowed to touch the history of the city, but also demonstrated the potential of the region as a basis for the development of cooperation between Russia and Poland.

"During the recent years, the Nizhny Novgorod region has received a powerful development. I saw how fast the new construction was. The governor of the region pays great attention to the development of social infrastructure," said the chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. According to her, the Nizhny Novgorod region stands out for a great influx of investment, low unemployment, high budget revenues, and all of that are merits of the regional government and personally Governor Valery Shantsev.
