Sakhalin power engineers hope to fully restore energy supply to the island disturbed by cyclone before November 8

Electric power engineers of Sakhalin hope to fully restore the energy supply to the island, disturbed by the cyclone, by November 8th. The press service of the Sakhalinenergo energy company reported on Tuesday that strong wind whose speed reached 28 metres per second and wet snow destroyed 29 power transmission lines with a tension of 6-10 kWt. As a result, electric power supply to 24 populated localities was fully stopped and to nine settlements - partially. At the present time, power supply to 12 populated localities was terminated fully or partially, including the towns of Kholmsk, Nevelsk, and Gornozavodsk. A part of the damaged power transmission lines passes in mountains which makes it difficult to restore them, the press service of Sakhalinenergo pointed out.
