Conception Tower of Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin opens

On November 4th, 2012 Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev took part in the opening ceremony of the Zachatyevskaya (Conception) Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. Thus, for the first time in 200 years, the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin has locked its ring after the landslide in 1887.

Large-scale restoration works conducted on the initiative of the head of the region Valery Shantsev, allowed the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin to obtain the original look of the closed stone ring and made the local Kremlin a unique object of cultural heritage.

The restored Zachatyevskaya Tower of the Kremlin will feature unique items that have never been exhibited. On the first floor, there will be elements of the previous Zachatyevskaya Tower displayed, as well as elements of the walls of the stone-made kremlin. The exhibition of the second floor consists of amphorae, weapons, items of the wooden Kremlin, which were discovered during archaeological research. The restored tower is included in the excursion tour, which now includes the Zachatyevskaya (Conception), Ivanovskaya and the Belaya (White) Towers. Its length of the Kremlin ring makes up 2,045 meters.
