Valery Shantsev: Construction needs Russian specialists

In the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Governor Valery Shantsev chaired a meeting of the coordinating council for the management of human resources potential of the region. The main theme of the meeting was to discuss the question of reducing the foreign labor force in construction organizations. "We will double the share of Russian specialists in construction," promised Shantsev.

To date, foreign nationals make up about ten percent of total employment in construction in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In 2012, the system of professional training and retraining of construction industry specialists in the Nizhny Novgorod region gives an opportunity to double the number of those who study the profession of construction worker. Thus, the government plans to increase the share of Russian specialists in the construction field twice in 2015.

The issue to control the limits for labor force in construction companies was given special attention at the meeting. When companies send applications, they exceed the required number of workers, and the government tries to reduce the inquiries to increase the efficiency of labor.

The issue of professional training of unemployed people in priority sectors of the economy was also discussed. According to the governor, this is one of the main tasks of the regional government: "Today, many investors are coming to the region, creating thousands of new jobs, and one has to fill them with qualified personnel. And our task is, above all, to teach the people who live in close proximity to the newly opening plants," said Valeriy Shantsev.

Also, the governor ordered the Office of State Employment Service of the Nizhny Novgorod region (until 2012) to monitor the level of employment of the unemployed after the completion of their professional studies.
