On the eve of reconciliation and accord day, Chuvash town and village schools received computer equipment

On the eve of the Day of Reconciliation and Accord, which is celebrated in Russia on November 7, many town and village schools in the Chuvash Republic (Volga region) received computer equipment.

According to the Chuvash Ministry of Education, the federal program "Unified Education Informational Environment Development for 2002-2006" is being successfully realised in the republic.

Deputy Education Minister Valery Sapozhnikov stated that last school year 481 village schools received 682 computers under this program. This year, town and village schools received additional 959 computers.

Sapozhnikov considers providing the educational facilities with access to Chuvash TV network and the Internet as the next step towards the computerisation of the school system in the Chuvash Republic. 151 schools have access to e-mail so far.
