Russian sailors rescued two North Korean fishermen in the Sea of Japan

Russian sailors rescued two North Korean fishermen in critical condition in the Sea of Japan.

According to information received on Saturday from the sources in the Vladivostok Rescue Coordination Center, on Friday, at around 18:00 local time, the crew of a Russian passenger liner discovered a boat with two fishermen in the Sea of Japan. When the fishermen were taken aboard, they were unconscious. Russian sailors warmed them up, gave them water and food. Both fishermen showed the captain of Russian vessel their ID papers.

The crew informed Russian authorities, border guards and North Korean Consulate in Russian Maritime territory about the incident.

On Saturday, at 17:00 local time, the Russian vessel will moor in the port of Zarubino (Russian Maritime territory). There, the fishermen will be handed over to the North Korean General Consulate officials.
