Russia Loses USD 300 Billion Annually from Out-of-Date Technology

Russia loses USD 200-300 billion every year because of out-of-date technology and the fact that the rights of creators of intellectual property are being infringed upon. This was announced yesterday by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Construction, and High-Technology Alexander Yashin at a press conference ahead of the third scientific conference "High-Technology and Intellectual Property", which will take place on November 11 and 12 in Saint Petersburg.

Mr Yashin said that the achievements of creators of know-how for industry and construction will also be discussed at the conference as well as the problems of the commercialization of intellectual property, the legal aspects of high-technology and intellectual property and also certain problems connected with the ecology, education and science. About 200 delegates will take part at the conference including members of the Russian legislative assembly, the Federal Council, representatives of Rospatent, leaders of the North-West Federal Region and Baltic states.
