Russian-Belarusian trade volume grows

The trade volume between Russia and Belarus amounted to about $6.091bn in the period from January to August 2002, which was 0.6 percent more than in the corresponding period of last year, the Russian State Statistics Committee told RosBusinessConsulting. Russian exports amounted to $3.534bn (a 2.7 percent growth), imports were $2.557bn, which was a 2.1 percent decrease compared to the first eight months of 2001.

In August 2002 the trade volume between the two countries was $885.6m, which was 10.2 percent higher than in the corresponding period of last year. Russian exports were $523.4m (a 17.8 percent advance), imports amounted to $362.2m (a 0.8 percent gain); the surplus of the foreign trade was $161.2m.
