1,500 people hospitalized in Southern Russia with food poisoning

According to the information of the Russian emergencies ministry, as many as 1,492 people were hospitalized in the Southern Federal District with dairy poisoning. This number includes 1,014 children, the ministry said on Monday. The largest number of diseased people was registered on the Krasnodar territory, which hospitalized 1,216 people, including 817 children, with acute intestinal infection. 127 people, including 110 teenagers, were diagnosed as suffering from Sonne dysentery.

Doctors say the patients' condition is "satisfactory." They receive all necessary medical aid. The region is also implementing a set of anti-epidemic measures.

People with symptoms of acute intestinal infection began applying for medical help on November 1st. The general assumption is that infection was caused by low-quality dairy products produced by the Kropotkin Milk Plant. The plant has by now been closed and all of its produce eliminated.
