Russia demands extradition of Putin's assassin

Russian Prosecutor General's Office sent their Ukrainian colleagues a request for the extradition of Adam Osmayev, who was detained on suspicion of plotting the assassination of Vladimir Putin. Russian law enforcement agencies have been hunting for Osmayev since 2008.

An official spokesperson for Russia's Prosecutor General Office Marina Gridneva said that Osmayev, 31, is accused in Russia of committing several terrorist crimes. Osmayev was arrested in Ukraine in February for illegal possession of explosives, the Russian News Service said.

The news about the foiled attempt to assassinate Putin appeared on February 27th. It is assumed that the attack was plotted by 3 people - Adam Osmayev, Ilya Pyanzin and Ruslan Madayev. The latter was supposed to act as a suicide bomber in the attack against the prime minister. The criminals were detained after an accidental explosion that occurred at a rented apartment in Odessa, Ukraine. Madaev was killed in the explosion, whereas Pyanzin survived and was subsequently interrogated, NTV reports.

The members of the terrorist group planned to blow up Putin's vehicle in Moscow. It also became known that Adam Osmayev graduated from secondary school in Moscow and then continued his education in the UK. Upon returning to Moscow, he found a job of a manager at a large trading company.
