Space Park May Be Built in Saint Petersburg

A space park (an entertaining and educational centre dedicated to Russia's achievements in space) may be built in Saint Petersburg. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this idea is particularly popular among those participating in the diversified and integrated exhibition "300 years of Saint Petersburg: an open Russia", who are continuing their work at the London Barbican Centre. A similar park already exists in Bremen, Germany.

The exhibition is a part of the project being carried out in preparation for the city's tercentenary. Exhibits of the seven federal districts of Russia, 13 ministries, over a thousand Russian companies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, and 160 regional chambers are spread over an area of 4,000 square miles. The exhibition is subdivided into three sections. The first of them presents the history of Russian-British cultural, diplomatic, and trade relations. The second section features the cultural heritage of St. Petersburg, the Northern Capital of Russia, its history, and its role in the development of Russia's statehood. The third section is the largest. Presented in it is the modern-day life of St. Petersburg as one of the most important cultural, industrial, tourist, transportation, and scientific centres of Russia.
