Central Bank posts Russian foreign trade figures

Russia's trade surplus amounted to $4.72bn in September 2002, the Central Bank reported. The trade surplus with CIS countries was $446m, and $4.274bn with other foreign countries.

Exports amounted to $9.888bn in September, which was 117.3 percent of the September 2001 volume; imports were $5.168bn, which was 23 percent higher than in September 2001. The volume of exports in the first nine months of this year amounted to $76.587bn, compared to $76.95bn in the corresponding period of last year; imports were $42.769bn in the period from January to September 2002, compared to $38.144bn in the first nine months of 2001.
