Students of Nizhny Novgorod explore energy of the future

On December 9, Nizhny Novgorod held an intellectual contest titled "Alternative Sources of Energy." The contest was organized by subsidiary company of Nizhnovenergo, JSC MRSK of Center and the Privolzhsky Region.

The contest was conducted among schoolchildren. The students prepared reports about geothermal and wind-powered electric stations. They also told of the use of solar power, as well as of the power of ebbs and flows. The winners received valuable prizes from Nizhnovenergo.

The "Alternative Sources of Energy" intellectual contest is an annual event that is held within the framework of the decade of energy devoted to the Day of Power Engineers. During the decade of energy, the students of School No. 38 visit energy enterprises of Nizhny Novgorod and the region. They take part in intellectual contests and communicate with representatives of technical colleges. This practice exists in the city since 2003.

Region's largest energy enterprises, including the above-mentioned subsidiary company of Nizhnovenergo, act as social sponsors of the event.

The goal of the decade of energy is to give students an opportunity to become acquainted with the energy industry. The industry serves as the driving force of the economic growth and the technological development of the Russian Federation. The region is always ready to welcome young qualified specialists, Privolzhye news agency said.

Today's students are the future of the energy industry in Russia. Therefore, Nizhnovenergo and its subsidiary MRSK of Center and Privolzhsky Region pay a lot of attention to working with young people, officials said.
