At least 32 children killed in Turkish bus crash

A bus crashed into a truck in central Turkey Saturday. The bus was carrying elementary school students. At least 32 children have been killed in the crash, authorities said.

The bus was bringing the students from Izmir, a city on the Turkish Aegean, to Cappadocia, a popular tourist spot in central Turkey known for its unusual geological formations.

The crash occurred on a highway near the city of Aksaray, close to Cappadocia. Aksaray Gov. Sebati Buyuran said the number of dead was at least 30, the government-owned Anatolia news agency reported.

More than 20 injured were sent to regional hospitals for treatment, health chief Akin Sudemen said. At least three of the injured were children in critical condition, he said.
