Teenage boy drives car into family on Easter

A 14-year-old boy drove his family's car into an Easter gathering, killing his grandmother and injuring another woman, authorities said Monday.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon in the town of Mogersdorf in Austria's easternmost province of Burgenland, police said.

They said the boy apparently wanted to show off by driving his father's BMW sedan but he lost control and the vehicle plowed into a group of relatives who had gathered for the holiday.

Officials said the youth's 73-year-old grandmother died at the scene of her injuries.

Authorities said the boy was uninjured, and that the public prosecutor's office was investigating.
