Two members of Grammy-nominated band Conjunto Primavera injured in accident

Two members of the Grammy-nominated band Conjunto Primavera were seriously injured when the driver of a small bus carrying the group to Odessa lost control and the vehicle flipped on its side, authorities said.

The band is up for a Grammy on Sunday for best norteno album with its CD "Algo De Mi."

Band members Jose Guadalupe Samaniego and J.J. Oliver were flown by helicopter Monday to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa for treatment, Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Larry Saenz said.

The other band members, driver Rigoberto Morales, and his son, Rigoberto Morales Jr., were taken to a hospital in Iraan with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Saenz said.

The accident occurred on westbound Interstate 10 in Pecos County. Iraan is about 70 miles (113 kilometers) southeast of Odessa, reports AP.

Authorities believe the driver was having trouble with the vehicle's right front tire and lost control.

The bus hit a metal guardrail on the side of the road and traveled along it for about 175 feet before it turned on its side, Saenz said.

A passing motorist saw the overturned vehicle and called authorities, he said.
