Iraqi terrorists kill TV cameraman

Gunmen in two sedans Monday shot and killed an Iraqi television cameraman in the northern city of Mosul, police said.

Mohammed al-Ban, a cameraman for al-Sharqiyah satellite channel, was killed about 9:30 a.m as he and his wife wre leaving their home in Mousul, 360 kilometers (225 miles) northwest of Baghdad, according to police Brig. Abdul-Karim Ahmed Khlaf. Al-Ban's wife was injured.

Khalaf said the motive for the killing wasn't known. The station had no immediate comment.

Last month, unidentified gunmen killed Leqaa Abdul Razzaq, an anchorwoman for the station, as she was traveling in south Baghdad's lawless Dora district, the AP says.

With al-Ban's death, at least 89 journalists have been killed in Iraq since hostilities began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count based on statistics kept by the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists.

Also, 35 other employees of media have been killed, including drivers, interpreters and guards, all of them Iraqi except for one Lebanese.
