Brazilian mother accused of using electric saw to kill her children

A Brazilian woman accused of using an electric saw to kill her two small children was taken into custody hundreds of kilometers (miles) away after fleeing the crime scene, Brazilian news media reported Wednesday.

Elisangela Rosa Camargo, 25, confessed to authorities that she used the saw to cut the throat of her six-year-old son and also used it to kill her one-year-old daughter, Brazil's Agencia Estado news agency reported.

The district police chief of the city of Jundiai outside Sao Paulo where the crime occurred was not immediately available to comment because he was transporting Camargo from the city she fled to by bus after the killings on Tuesday.

The children were found dead by their father after he returned home from work Tuesday in Jundiai, about 45 kilometers (28 miles) north of Sao Paulo, Agencia Estado reported.

Authorities believe Camargo took a bus to the city of Bauru, 345 kilometers (215 miles) north of Sao Paulo, after killing the children. She was captured at a Bauru bus station after her sister called authorities, Agencia Estado said.

No motive was immediately provided for the killings, reports AP.
