An Israeli airstrike targeting a group of militants in the northern Gaza Strip killed two Palestinians and wounded six others Thursday.
The airstrike appeared aimed at a group of three militants from the militant Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades gathered near the town of Jebaliya. Several houses were also damaged in the attack, according to the Palestinian Interior Ministry.
Hospital officials identified the two killed men as Iyad Nasser, 27, and Iyad Qaddas, 21. Six others were wounded, three lightly and three with shrapnel wounds, including an 11-year-old girl, hospital officials said.
The army said the strike targeted a building where a senior Al Aqsa militant responsible for attacks on Israel, was staying.
An angry crowd gathered at the hospital demanding revenge.
The strike was the latest in a wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting Palestinian militant leaders and militants trying to fire rockets from Gaza into Israel, the AP reports.
